Over the years, PEAK grantmaking has identified several significant gaps as we examined grantmaking practices across different types of funders, much of that based in outdated notions about nonprofits and steeped in white dominant norms that no longer serve the field. As a result, nonprofits are forced to operate within a scarcity mindset unable to think beyond the project funded or the task at hand, with staff often under-supported for the hard work they must do.
