Meet a Member: North Dakota Motor Carriers Association

North Dakota Motor Carriers Association

Since 1934, the North Dakota Motor Carriers Association (NDMCA) has been the leading education and advocacy organization for the transportation industry in North Dakota. Its mission is to promote highway safety, deliver services and provide representation for its members.

The trucking industry plays a vital role in lives of North Dakotans for many reasons. Delivering fuel, groceries or goods, trucks bring it. Trucks transport 67 percent of total manufacturing weight in the state, which turns out to be about 53 tons per day. Transportation of goods is important to the way of life, and trucks literally drive the economic success of North Dakota.

NDMCA works hard to ensure its members are educated on regulations and laws they need to understand to operate safely and successfully. In addition, NDMCA focuses heavily on highway safety because it wants the roads to be safe for all drivers. Nationally, 70-75 percent of multi-vehicle truck accidents are caused by the driver of passenger vehicles, which is why NDMCA partners on efforts to educate drivers how on to operate around large commercial vehicles. NDMCA also serves as the voice of the industry on legislative issues both in North Dakota and Washington, D.C.
